Are we doing this holiday the best way?

Christmas is just a few days away and I find that I have developed a severe ying and yang interpretation of this holiday. We all know that if retailers were banned from holiday advertising the amassing of material goods to swap with family and friends would abate tremendously. People would just. calm. down. The few extra days of time off could be enjoyed with family and friends and the days leading up to it would not be so frenetic. That's the yang.

The ying is; it's a great opportunity to eat, drink and be merry with my family. I'd probably celebrate any holiday, any time, with great fervor if it meant my daughters were going to be around. They're fun.

I plan on enjoying the holidays and look forward to that fresh start/new awakening feeling that comes with the new year.

The Renegades

Want to see a cool trailer of an upcoming movie? It's a documentary about beep baseball for blind people.

Off hiatus

Back after a year away I have discovered that all my old posts are gone. What a nitwit. The kind of brilliance found in those posts can only be found in fortune cookies. Pass the pineapple.

My personal pigeon hole.

50s Male. Dad, Husband, Business Owner, Documentary Filmmaker, Vietnam Vet, Still like to play basketball twice a week. A little gym time, a little tennis, kayaking; anything to keep from falling over and having the ticker stop from this aging thing. What a bummer. Social Liberal (gay marriage, gay anything - abortion; sure within the first 3 months, National Security- Moderately Conservative (I am the only person living in Massachusetts who believes that the Iraq war is necessary and winnable ((my family and friends have lost any respect for me because of this)), Fiscally Centrist (hell we just print the money anyway, what a joke!). I find politics absolutely hilarious but I follow it anyway for the laughs. Is there a more transparent person on earth than ANYONE running for ANYTHING? Except for the guy or gal you're backing - who really, really, really, really wants to help! Sure. Term limits at all levels...1 term then get out. And NO lobbying afterward.

Immigration. This is very tough. I like the current Bush plan. Conservatives and far lefties hate it, how can it be wrong?

My pet peeve. Agenda Journalism. This absolutely freaks me out. Fox News sucks. They are center-right and wear their agenda prominently on their sleeves. Whackos. But wait. CNN sucks for the same reason. As does MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC...all center-left. Noboby bothers to tell both sides. In other words, no more journalism. It is officially dead. Print journalism is worse. Think New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe - do not, I repeat do not get all your news from these sources. Their agenda is to smear Bush and get a Democrat president elected in 2008 and they'll filter the news (particularly the war news) to create a tremendously negative dynamic. Islamofascists love this. New York Post, NY Daily News, Boston Herald are trying the other side but not with the fervor of the left. The left wins this fight. Bush hatred knows no bounds. I like the guy, a lot. What? Yup, he has cajones. We need that now and going forward. It is a global jihad going on out there folks. Take that head out of the sand, put the pomegranate martini down and check the stats.
